They deliberated for their mock-Caldecott Awards, deciding which book should take the top honor. One girl liked “Why?” because the drawings were detailed and creative. A boy argued that “Vamos!” was the best because it included several Spanish words on each page. Another classmate favored “A Place to Land” since it highlighted history and displayed beautiful watercolor pictures.
